Construction
Method
Each course of the log wall is snugly fastened together by self tapping, self
counter sinking
9" log hog screws every 16" along the length of the log.  Two 1"
x 6"
wooden dowels and four log hog screws are placed at the butt joints(place
where two log ends meet).  This fastening system provides to counteract any
warping or twisting tendencies.

The log hog screws are counter sunk 1/2" into the log to allow for natural
shrinkage.  The logs are machine "v" grooved on top and bottom to
accommodate a 1" diameter polyethylene
backer rod.  The groove extends
exactly to the routed cut.  This eliminates a trough in which water could seep
into the wall.
Weather stripping is also incorporated at the butt joints and
corner joints.

Excellent insulation properties are provided by:
Compression of the backer rod between the logs
Compression of dowels and the weather stripping at the butt joints
Weather stripping at the corner joints
